Crickey that hood is in poor shape, wondering if it has been subjected to trauma rather than natural stress fissures?

I own one of these, in Vista Blue and one in black, I also have spare NOS barrels for each pen. Of my two Special Editions and the spare barrels, there are no cracks at all.

Given the level of damage to that hood I would source a replacement, that pen is certainly of value to warrant the expense.

Otherwise I suspect the results, whilst possibly stable, will be obviously 'repaired'.

Your best best is a mix of superglue and fine sanded dust from a older cracked vista blue barrel if you can source one.

I know, from the luthier repair industry there is a plethora of different superglues available. It may be worth researching the glue and sourcing damaged Vista blue plastics for the filler dust.

Good luck.

Thanks! I wish I knew what happened to it, I got it from a 2nd hand market in this condition. I'm guessing someone stepped on it, judging solely on that crack alone. It's also really hard to find a section on sale, and would most likely have to ask Parker for a replacement. I'm not sure if they would allow it though, considering I have no receipt of first purchase :(

I was thinking about sanding down the threading of the section actually! Two pen restorers actually recommended epoxy to me, and said superglue wasn't as good an adhesive as epoxy. Considering the the back of the section's uselessness, I can most likely take a very small amount off the bottom of the threading to mix into the superglue. Thanks for the reply!

This is most difficult to watch.  What is the current condition of the pen?  I'm headed to a pen show in the morning, perhaps I can sort out a happy ending for you.

Before we go smearing things with glue lets see what can be done and find some options.

San Francisco International Pen Show - They have dates! August 23-24-25, 2019 AND August 28-29-30, 2020. Book your travel and tables now! My PM box is usually full. Just email me: my last name at the google mail address.

The pen is in very good condition, with the exception of that section. The other issue is that I don't think I have enough for a replacement (around $150) yet, but I'm hoping the glue will hold till than.
