Im a 62 year old Welshman who loved fountain pens from an early age. My affection was with their look and feel not the (my) written product. Im left handed and spent most school days covered in ink with unreadable work. After a gap of 50 + years I have re kindled my interest and starting collecting them on a random basis. I have recently bought a mb 12 on eBay uk from a seller with a 100% record who confirmed in response to my email that the pen was 100% genuine. The location was listed as UK but today I had notification that its been posted yet the tracking is from France ? I have emailed the seller pointing this out no reply yet. There were only 2 photos of the pen in the advert. I could be concerned unnecessarily but I have read about so many fakes out there and this is my most expensive buy £77 inc postage not a fortune but a lot for me. I went to an auction today and bought a Parker 51 mk2 , a Conway Stewart Scribe 336 very faded, a Parker 25 Flighter and a Sheaffer pencil all for 17.50 inc fees so swings and roundabouts I guess. I have spent quite a bit of time on this fantastic site learning and admiring the pens on display. I have no doubt I will be asking for advice a lot in the future.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
