Paili Vacuum Filler For $9Us On Etsy

I don't think I've ever seen a vacuum filler for under $10US. The new PenBBS 268 at $16.99US is certainly inexpensive for a PenBBS vacuum filler and the new Wing Sung vac-filler doesn't seem to have a model name or a price yet.

But here is a "Paili" fine point vacuum filler for $8.90 and a medium nib for $9.90 on Bobby's Etsy page.

These are the same I believe as the Wingsung 3013 as discussed in https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/346609-wing-sung-vacuum-filler-pens-guess-at-what-price/

On AliExpress, there is a seller advertising the Paili 013/Wingsung 3013 on the same page. A single pen (including shipping) for $8, or 3 pens (blue/green/transparent) for $18. Also in purple and brown.

Bobby is also selling the Wing Sung branded one for $9.90 plus $1 shipping. Don't know if there is any difference.

Bobby said they're made in the same moulds. The cap bands are different, so the hardware might all be slightly different, but probably all made by the same factories.

So is this vacuum filler made by victo or by wing sung education? Because the pilot style nib is like victo/698 but the price and the model number is more like the education 3000 line.

Correct me if any of the above is incorrect.

Yeah, this threw me off, too. The Victo Green Stationery nibs are added after-market by Bobby.

The clear, brown, and purple pens are made by WSE, and have the pen-in-target-that-looks-like-a-propeller logo, and have Wing Sung's Chinese name and 3013 on the cap band. The green and blue ones are "made by" Paili using the same moulds as WSE, have Paili's Chinese name (I assume) and 013 on the cap band, but I can't 100% be sure what's on their nib, as the only close-up I can find in a picture has it washed out. It's definitely not a Victo nib, but may or may not be a WSE logo.

But a pilot style nib that is possibly interchangeable with a metro nib I thought would be distinctive feature of victo pens. Can it be that the 3000 series pens maker has gotten a hold of a way to make pilot style nibs?

No, WSE has sold these for a while, for example on their 3001 Pilot 78g clone inspired pen.

Edited to say that I should add that my personal experience with the 3001 nib is that it was flimsy, essentially came pre-sprung, and was not near the quality of the Victo nibs, but it's a single anecdote, as I haven't been brave enough to try a second. I got the 3013 with a Victo nib swap from Bobby, but those aren't completely satisfactory over time, either, so I'll be swapping it with either an XF from a Penmanship or a Pluminix F stub/italic.

Oh so you have one of these pens already.. how do you find it?

Thanks for the info regarding the nibs.

I apologise, I was too liberal with the usage of "got". I have purchased the 3013 with a Victo nib replacement, but not yet received it.

With customs where I currently live, I expect to see the pen next Tuesday or Wednesday. I'm sure there will be lots of first impressions by then.

  • 2 weeks later...

I have been using two of these for about 24 hours now. At first, I thought they were the most amazing $9 pens of all time. I'm still very pleased, considering the price, but I am struggling with them running dry and/or hard starting. On one, I subbed a Pilot stub nib from a Plumix, but on the other, I kept the original fine nib. Both are exhibiting the same tendency to run dry, so I suspect the issue is with the feeds. The inks are straightforward in both cases: Pilot Blue Black in one and Diamine Sherwood Green in the other.

Try opening the blind cap a few millimetres. On my 3013, the plunger doesn't touch the section, so the reservoir is unsealed. Others are reporting, however, that their plunger does touch the section, so they have an ink cut-off. This is a feature of most vacuum filler pens, to reduce the possibility of burping ink, and to let the pens be brought on planes without leaking.

Thank you. I've had it open, unfortunately. Still, I may not have found the magic gap to let ink in sufficiently. I'll keep tinkering.

on all 3 of my 3013's the plunger seals. Unscrew the blind cap.

I got one of the Paili versions a couple of days ago. Mine has some marks in the cap, but otherwise I'm quite fond of the pen. My only real criticism is that it posts poorly, but I can live with that.

Yeah, it posts like (bleep), but so does the vac700r it copies. It's a very long pen, it would just be nice to have

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
