Has Anyone Done A Diy Clean And Lube Of Their Boheme Mechanism?

I have an XL Boheme with a slightly stiff nib retraction / extension mechanism and am wondering whether anyone has taken theirs apart to clean and lubricate it or whether I should just send it off to eckiefump for service?!

Can confirm that plumber's silicon gel spread liberally over the interior mechanism (after unscrewing the section and removing nib and feed unit) with a cotton bud has resulted in a smooth operation. I couldn't remove the blind cap assembly from the barrel to remove the mechanism so it has not been cleaned. I expect the problem to resurface at some point!

I'm not using any silicon products on Montblanc pens but vaseline instead. Just like Montblanc's service does.

Ahh - ok, thanks. Will remember that for future reference! Everything seems to be working extremely smoothly again now though.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
