Greetings from sunny Chandler, Arizona. Thank you for letting me join this site.

 

I currently have two Platinum Preppies, one with a fine nib and one with a medium nib. I have finished the one cartridge that came with each of them and am considering my next move. I like the medium nib the best and I have mainly used it on an inexpensive composition notebook but also like it with a Rhodia dot pad.

 

I am thinking of getting a Platinum converter and playing with ink samples in my Preppies next. But, I have been looking at other pens such as the $50 TWSBI 580 and I have a gold nib pen wish list of 5 $100-$200 pens. I have attached a PDF file of my wish list for anyone who wants to see it.

 

I will be visiting my wife's family in Southern California over the July 4th holiday for a few days and may try to find a fun fountain pen store on that trip. It would be great to see some of these nice fountain pens in person.

 

Looking forward to participating in this discussion forum.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
