Any place where we can purchase Pilot823 cap

 

I just dropped my pen and the top part of the cap broke..! :/

Contact Pilot directly (or ask the store you bought the pen from to get you in contact with Pilot). Pilot can get you a replacement cap. If you are out of the warranty period, you will probably need to pay for it.

Currently inked:

I purchased the pen from Engeika. It seems like the store is closed now, and I don't think Pilot has any support centre in India :/

Reach out to pilot japan. You'll likely have to ship it to them and maybe pay for the part, but they should take care of you.

Taizo ceased Engeika Finest Shop retail operations more than ten months ago, except for its eBay store which only lists Wancher products these days, as far as I can see.

 

If the cap is damaged because you dropped it, then it wouldn't be a warranty claim anyway. I've never heard of Pilot offering 'spare' pen parts to retail consumers (other than replacement Capless nib assemblies through US retailers) anyway, but you could always ask your local authorised Pilot distributor or seller whether you can order one through them, if you don't want to engage Pilot Corporation in Japan directly first up.

 

I do agree with Honeybadgers that contacting Pilot Japan is ultimately what you'll have to do to get the issue resolved.

Pilot Japan has their site in Japanese. I guess I'll have to use to pen w/ the broken cap.

 

I don't understand why they can not offer spare parts or some sort of customer service for a 350 dollar pen. TWSBI has a better customer support and they sell their pens at $30-80.

That's entirely your call.

 

As a fellow fountain pen hobbyist and Pilot Pen customer, what I'd want to do is to tell you the repair options I know of, irrespective of how daunting or expensive they may be for you; it's better than not having any options from which to choose, and it's better that you make the choice of doing nothing and continuing with a broken cap (if you so decide) eyes wide open knowing there are alternatives that you have judged to be even less desirable.

But Pilot Pen does in fact offer customer service where it has a commercial presence, and in particular, its repair service in Japan is very reasonably priced (¥1,000+tax in labour charges for basic repairs; that's around US$10).

 

It isn't necessary to offer customer service where you are and on your terms to minimise your out-of-pocket expenses. Try getting a US$500+ Aurora pen repaired, or buying a replacement cap for one. Or for a Graf von Faber-Castell.

 

It's not just Pilot or Japanese brands that decline to sell spare parts through retailers and facilitate customer attempts at DIY repairs.

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.
