Sailor Kop Mosaique

Recommended Posts

There were several mosaique KoPs - at least one of them was very colorful.

Does anybody has such a pen or has a picture or a link?

It is so difficult to see if this is the one I have in mind.

I thought it was more colorful than this one actually

I don't have any pictures, but I have seen KoP Mosaics in red, brown, and green color schemes with multiple colors each like the picture you showed (which is the red)

There is also a grey/black one.

The pen in the first post is one of the red pens. I have one in a 1911L size made for the Japanese market, but not the KOP size.

Good morning, These Mozaiques are among the most beautiful KoPs. I have owned 3, all except the black-gray. Presently I have only the brown-black-blue one, like the one posted by Bobby Check. They are quite light and well balanced, lighter to my hand than the bandless ebonite models. Will post photos later of brown-black-blue if anyone is interested. Best wishes, Barry

Here is a photo of my only remaining Mozaique KoP, the brown & blue & black one. Sold the green & blue one to my buddy & fellow KoP addict, Brian Anderson.

The red-blue-black one has a sad tale if anyone wants to read. At the Philadelphia Pen Show 3 years ago, I was showing it around to folks on Sunday afternoon because I was so pleased with it, having owned it just a few months. Unintentionally, I left it in its box on a vendor's table and walked away. Many hours later, when we returned home and I was unpacking my pens, I discovered its absence. Called the hotel immediately and Bert Oser, owner of the Philly show at the time, the next morning. Both were empathetic & helpful, but the pen never appeared. My wife said she believed someone would do the right thing and post an ad about finding the pen. Maybe I am more jaded, but I didn't think that would happen. This ramble is not meant as self pity, I promise. Just a story about yet another guy learning yet another lesson the hard way.

A truly sad tale indeed.

Fool me once, shame on you.

Fool me twice; damn

There goes that fox again.

I remember when these were available. There was also a greenish one if I remember right.

I looked at them at the time but didnt pull the trigger. Theyre just regular acetate, and were, imo, a bit meh...

Too many pens; too little writing.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
