Another sheen exclusive for the German market by Diamine Inks.

A rich rust red Communication Breakdown bleeds out bright reds when blended with water and a green metallic sheen is in evidence.

When dry, the concentrated areas dry a metallic green. Depending on your paper surface the ink writes as a very deep rust red with strong hints of green sheen in evidence.

Tests conducted on Bockingford 200lb rough, Rhodia dot matrix and Tamoe River papers using a Noodler's Creeper pen. Now available from German ink retailers.

Seeing the title, I thought you were going to share a bad experience involving Diamine.

Nice red ink with sheen though, might pick one up in 30 mL bottles. Still pining for something like the Ortloff

Funny -- I normally don't much care for burgundy-leaning or blood-red inks. But this one certainly is a sheen monster....

Hmmm. Maybe it's because it's got that dark edge crispness that some people refer to as "haloing", which happens with some of my favorite inks (like vintage Skrip Peacock). Which is, at the same time really odd in this case, since while it has tons of sheen, it doesn't actually seem to have much shading in the written exemplars....

"It's very nice, but frankly, when I signed that list for a P-51, what I had in mind was a fountain pen."

Very similar inks in terms of both colour and German exclusivity. In terms of sheen, the Ortloff is an extreme sheen where this isn’t as pronounced.

What I would say Ruth is that although this is being pumped up as a sheeting ink, it’s no where near heavy as some of the monster sheens likke Maureen and Robert. Colourwise. it is close to Ortloff but as you’ll see from the water blends, this one has some amazing brilliants reds on show.

I have another Diamine exclusive ink coming from Germany to investigate. Stay tuned!

The ball says that I probably need to buy it after your review. 😉

I hate country specials and other limited editions.😥

But thank you for this review - I think I need this ink. Now!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
