So far in my pen journey I have been fairly boring on the ink front. I have my MontBlanc Black, Parker Blue and some very generic blue cartridges for those pens i have not got convertors for yet.

I want to start exploring, and I know this can be a slippery slope so going to start slow :)

I would like a very dark blue (bottled) that is good for most paper and everyday use. Where would you suggest I start?

Pilot Blue-Black is nearly identical in color to Sailor Blue but comes in 350ml bottles for $20 if you like it - code INK350BB at Amazon.

Dark but not as dark as Montblanc Midnight Blue.

Diamine Regency Blue, very dark and very saturated blue. Love it

Cheaper: Diamine Midnight or Diamine Oxford Blue. Both are sheeners, I especially like Midnight.

More expensive: Edelstein Tanzanite, not as dark or as blue as Regency Blue: it's got a bit of grey if that's your thing. Bonus:extra sheeny.

Honorable mention: Diamine Eclipse, my very own favourite. It's darker than Regency but not as blue.

+1 for Eclipse157s suggestions. A couple of other dark blues to consider would be Herbins Bleu de Profounders, Sailor Kobe #51 Kano Cho Midnight, and #7 Kaikyo Blue. I use Pilot Blue Black as an everyday ink, but in most pens Ive used it is not as dark as most of the others mentioned.

Thanks, great suggestions. Think I will grab a couple in the smaller bottles to see what I prefer.

Diamine Oxford Blue X2 here ; also Diamine Twilight if you are looking for a more Dark Tealish Blue, I think Diamine's Blue Black is more like real dark blue  and instead their indigo is more a Greyish Blue Black if you are into that ..

if you are after a wetter Dark Blue, then J. Herbin Bleu Des Profondeurs

Have you already checked the reviews of the dark blue inks on FPN?

Another vote for Diamine Oxford Blue

It's an awesome dark blue.

I'm using Platinum Blue-Black in my M805F and the shading is pretty good as well. It's iron-gall in part but I've had no issues at all. Nice dark blue.

For a deep dark blue, Diamond Midnight and Oxford Blue are right on the mark. Montblanc JFK Navy blue is also nice but hard to find. Recently i tried J. Herbin Bleu Des Profondeurs and i like it best of all. It’s a nice dark blue that flows well and cleans up easily.

Diamine Majestic Blue and Diamine Sargasso Sea are also very dark blues.

KWZ IG Blue #3 - goes on a rich, wet royal blue and dries to a very dark blue/blue black. An exceptionally well behaved iron gall, so you get permanence and pretty good water resistance. One of my fabourite work inks.

Vintage. Cursive italic. Iron gall.

Good tip off. Beautiful stuff. Has Monteverde stopped making the Noir inks already? It was really brave of them to make inks unlike most others on the market. All the noir series are good inks, apart from Azure Noir obviously.

Check out the review threads, Amber's Swatch threads (blue blue-black), and when you can, buy samples before bottles.

I don't often see De Atrementis Sherlock Holmes recommended, but it's a dark blue ink I enjoy and use often.

Sailor Yonaga is a gorgeous dark blue with red and/or green sheen.
