Osmia Progress 66G Photo Thread

Hi, Folks,

This is a fairly uncommon Osmia Progress model. I've only personally seen a couple. Would love to see more!
This is an Osmia Progress 66G burgundy piston filler fountain pen c. 1957. This just under 5 3/16 inch long pen operates by turning the end cap on the barrel, which operates the plunger. Dipping the nib in ink and cycling the plunger fills the ink chamber in the barrel. Ink level can be seen through the ribbed section at the top of the barrel. The cap top has the Osmia white four point diamond inside a circle logo. All trim is gold plated. The barrel is stamped Osmia and the Osmia logo and PROGRESS and 66G over F is stamped near the blind cap, indicating a fine nib. The firm 14 karat gold inset nib has no visible markings, but is stamped with the Osmia logo over 14K over 585. This model was also made in green and black.

A very nice pen you have there. Like the color and the ink window :)

 

I have an Faber Castell 77s, quite similar to your model. Nib is gp steel however, marked with the Osmia logo, otherwise no other inscription. Piston and striped ink window present. The cap band reads Faber Castell Progress. Inscription near the end of the pen reads 77 S / M.

 

The pen is personalized "Fries", whatever that is or means. The inscription is not engraved as usual, but heat-stamped into the body, looks like a factory job. The end of the cap is however a bit different than yours.

 

Very nice pen, serviced recently (had to repair the piston spindle). Very good writer, a tad on the wet side.

Thanks for showing yours! I updated that the nib is marked with the Osmia logo, 14K and 585, it's just not visible. I'm attracted to some Osmias as they remind me of Sheaffer pens. The striped balance shaped Osmias and these with inset nibs.

Hi I have a Faber progress 77s - same pen as yours. I’ve removed the piston. Is this the correct seal attached. It’s very stiff in the barrel and I’ve tried to grease it but no joy. There doesn’t seem to be a way to remove it to replace it with o rings. Anyone can help. Thanks

Hi Pob,

 

Not sure how much use this datapoint is, but my 66G has a black seal and a black piston shaft, and it looks like the seal is a different shape from yours, with a thinner seating ring. 

 

Good luck getting it sorted!
