That green Realo.... tempting. I seem to only want to buy Limited Editions these days though...

I know - that Profit caught my eye too - it will go very well with the Shikiori Tokiwamatsu.

Just bought one Realo for my friend. Actually it is written as 21k nib in the website though :)

The PG Mocha Brown looks tasty and I am not even a fan of brown's.

OTOH, Diamine Amber would go well with the PG Slim.

Oh Christ, that's exactly what I need. Another Realo in my life (what is that, 6 so far?!?!)

Too many pens; too little writing.

I have the brown one but it was originally made with Pent, I think, and called the Hemingway.its a lovely colour.

The Realo reminds me of a green MB 146, apart from being a demonstrator and a lighter shade.

When was this and was it a similar brown?

Not sure of the exact date but I think I bought it three years ago and I was late in buying it in terms of actual release. It looks exactly the same as the pictures in terms of colour and even the nib imprint.

I checked back in my records and it is actually a Wancher collaboration, not Pent as I suggested. I remember the advertising bumph that went with it; rather curious stuff about Hemingway drinking vast amounts of espresso while journeying through Spain. I'm sure he probably did but I tend to associate him with Parisian coffee houses. As it stands it remains my favourite Pro Gear; the top spot being reserved for the KOP version.

It is listed for $200, is it similar to what you paid?

There is also a tasty PG Slim in Forest Green.

I honestly can't remember what I paid but I'm fairly certain it was considerably less than that. I bought it through Global Rakuten

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
