Darn! I really like the looks of that, but not the price. Why is it so much higher than other Diamond 580s?

They teased this again today on Instagram. In May they said "a few months," so I'm hoping soon.

Usually I'm not a rose gold fan, but I really like the looks of that pen. Perfect for a deep, dark black ink. I can already see a wet, thick, dark line of Kobe Black coming off a the broad 580 nib.

Very nice! The rose gold is striking against the black/smoke.

Would love to see a Mini version of this pen.  After the original nib was changed due to the widely acknowledged initial poor quality plating issue, my RG has been my most reliable TWSBI's, and one of the few that hasn't developed a cracked barrel or leak.

If they made it post properly, like an M200, I'd buy one.

As it is... I'd rather have another M200 at that price.

Oh shut up and take my money!! I was crushed to find that I'd missed the initial release by  ... oh, 3 years and that an original coulld cost me 500 bucks or more on eBay.

I rather prefer the dark smoke transparent color over the opaque glossy black. It looks more like a gemstone to me this way.

I would happily pay the MRSP for this pen and because it suits me down to the ground, it would take an amazing color combination to make me buy another Diamond 580 after this.

(Of course, if someone had the 100th ROC Anniversary Diamond 580 with the White Sun logo on the cap jewel they were willing to let go, please have them call me. That would be another down-to-ground suitable pen.)

Plating on the nib started to flake after a few months. Trim at least holds.

Social media post today from Twsbi.

I think this was the *only* instance where I was actually *glad* to have tht damned top row of stories cluttering up my IG feed.

Otherwise?

Get rid of the stories. If I want to see a story, I'll just go to the individual IGrammer's page, thanks.

They now say it will go retail next month.

What they say vs what they do?

The price become higher is because to achieve this rose gold color we need to change all metal part from brass or steel to stainless steel. The stainless steel is much harder to work with... and the PVD color coating is very expensive.

Speedy: that's good information, thanks. But as an owner of the previous 580RG, and one of the many who saw their nibs fall apart, I wonder if you will be making enough new nibs so that those in the same situation can replace theirs, as opposed to buying a whole new pen.
