New Large Fountain Pen

Here's one I just finished. Its pretty big... around 6 inches long. I forgot the name of the alumilite blank but if you like blue, its pretty awesome. Comes with your choice of polished steel JOWO nib and a Schmidt screw in converter. It will also work great as an eyedropper. In fact, I drilled it extra big. It should hold around 2.5ml of ink. If anyone is interested, I would be happy to include any blue color you like that is in Noodlers color lineup. I usually have all of them on hand. The pen can be found at www.jandjwooddesigns.net I would love to hear what everyone thinks. Also, if you check my website, I have some ballpoint pens available now too. I know that's kind of a naughty word around here, but some people like both. Thanks for looking.

Now that's the ticket! @jj9ball

Beautiful Stormy Sea much more of a looker than my Sailor Stormy Sea though I'm partial to your Meteor color blank with Omaha Brown :P

Pen body has a great clean zen line like a clipless Pilot Emperor or Edison Collier

I like the screw in converter so less prone to rattling and eyedropper conversion is a plus.

Support for the standard JoWo #6 is good for nib options or feed/housings

While the cap is clipless, a small generic anti-roll stopper option may be useful to consider in the future.

Hope you keep turning out pens, you may have a future customer(s) ;)

I will say, a pen is a pen, no matter FP, RB, or BP!

Wow, fantastic color. I'm impressed how seamless the cap is with the rest of the body.

Nice work!

That seamless shape capped is just right -- not too blunt, not too pointy.

The pen is gorgeous.

great colour, looks like a very nice job.

The closed pen looks very neat but unfortunately that has a drawback which makes it a deal breaker for me, if barrel and cap are flush it means the pen has a relevant step down barrel to section (confirmed by the other pictures) which I find uncomfortable when writing to the extend that I would not buy such type of pen.

I just thought you might want to note that some pen users don't mind that step, some others do.

Noted however that on your site you have other designs that would avoid that issue!

Compliments for your work.

You're in luck! I just finished making 3 pens with no stepdown on the barrel. Thank you very much for the feedback.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
