Rumors Of A New Se

Calabria

Recommended Posts

Goldspot just announced "a pen that everybody owns" in a "new color" only for the US (at 8:15). Could this be a L2K SE?

It would be great if it turns out to be the L2K.

Does "everyone" own a 2000?

I would think not.

That Safari isn't as bad as all that (I like the red clip, and it's better looking than the pastel ones). What I *don't* like is that the nib choices are only EF, F, and M according the iPenstore link. I don't need another Safari with an F nib, my LX has an M, and I tried an EF nib at a pen show and found it very scratchy.

Yes, I know you can swap out nibs easily -- but I'm not keen on buy a $36 US pen and *then* having to pay another $13 to get a different nib (after presumably *also* having to buy a converter). I mean let's be real -- it *is* still just a Safari....

How long ago was that Bronze and Pastel launch?

I had a feeling it would be the Safari. headsmack.gif

Good Lord. That IS an eyesore.

What were they thinking?

Not a lot, by the looks of it.

At this rate, they ought to introduce DIY paint kits. biggrin.png

Saved ourselves a lot of disappointment.

The probability of the L2K was great while it lasted, then the Lamy reality hit home. laugh.png

Now that I understand the reason behind the idea it doesn't look so ugly lol.

But I still wouldn't get it no matter how patriotic I am, if I was American.

It's a heck of a lot better looking than most of the MB "Limited Editions" and a heck of a lot cheaper!

I wouldn't say better, but definitely more palatable and no doubt waaay cheaper.

OTOH, isn't criticizing MB LE's blasphemy or does it only apply to the MB thread. wink.png

That is a really expensive and horrible way to get a cool red clip on your bog standard white Lamy Safari. First the spew coloured LE Safari of the year, and now this? Please could we go back to the matte velvet colours next year?!

But it isn't blasphemy to criticize Lamy LEs on the Lamy forum?

This year exclusive to the US. Next year exclusive to France. The year after that the UK. Eventually an exclusive to North Korea. Hey, if Trump meets Kim again they could sell it as a commemorative edition.

I’d buy that USA thingy for the same reason I have three neon Picos: obnoxious is a reflection on me.

I ride a recumbent, I play go, I use Macintosh so of course I use a fountain pen.

Don't forget Canada and Germany.

In the spirit of generosity, there might even be a Africa Special.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
