Just so that people are aware what to expect:

 

I bought an Arco Oak, which took 2 weeks to arrive to the reseller from Pineider after purchase.

 

It was non-functional, with a bent nib, didn't write except under great pressure - nearly hard enough to spring the nib.

 

I sent it back, which took something like an entire afternoon of arranging the pickup, as Pineider has a specific service they want you to use here in italy, but they can't be bothered to arrange it for you, and the guys who work at the parcel service don't really want to work.

 

This followed by complete silence for 90 days.

 

Was contacted today by the reseller, apparently fixing a nib that won't write is, and I quote "not covered by warranty" and will cost me a further 100 euros.

 

Needless to say, I am rather upset, and these are the last euros Mr. Del Vecchio and company will ever get from me.

Not to try to defend Pineider, but bended nib is a dammage of the pen that could happen at any time and it is not covered by the warranty by any pen munufacturer.

You say you bought the pen from a reseller, therefore I understand from a physical shop: I think you should have complained for the bended nib immediately at the time you got the pen from the reseller.

How Pineider can be convinced that you bought the pen on that conditions, if you did not copmplained for that at the time of purchasing it ??

I did complain as soon as it arrived.

 

They shipped it, special order, to the reseller, who shipped it to me sealed box.

 

When am I supposed to complain about a defective product except as soon as I open the box?

 

Does that mean you're never supposed to return defective goods?

Yes, I have returned defective goods.

But for some defect it is difficolt to prove that the product arrived in that conditions.

A nib bented could happen also while you unbox the pen and use it for thr first time, if it is dropped on the floor.

I'm sure this is not your case, but maybe this could be what Pineider thought.

 

Did you asked clarification to Pineider why they considered the repairing not covered by warranty?

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..
