Goldspot Pens video, below, showcases the 2019 Lamy Limited Edition.

At the 6 minute mark, the Safari 2019 colors are compared to other Safari/AL Star colors.

I'm not usually a fan of pastels, but I'm actually really excited to go out and have a look at those pens, especially after I wasn't too fond of the 2018 one. A slightly different shade of black? Seriously?

The blue one looks nice, very retro, and the green one is neat because it vaguely reminds me of the silver-green AL-Star they stopped making ages ago. Not sure if I'll actually buy any of them, but I'm theoretically interested, at least. Ink matching will be hell, though. Standardgraph cornflower for the pastel blue, maybe...?

I've seen them for the first time in a brick and mortar shop. Before seeing them, I was sure I'd buy the powder pink one.

After seeing them, I did not buy the pink and nor the others. They are so pale! Even paler, when exposed near the normal colors. I like the color of the ring, which is a bit darker. But the body... no. Love didn't happen. Too bad.

But I've bought another Vista and a bottle of the Lamy bronze ink. To cheer up again :-)

But it was the pale-ness that spoke to me! Mine arrived the other day!

Oh and here they are in my pencil case.

That pencil case was made for those pens! They're a perfect match.

Enjoy your new pens!

I won't buy them, I collect AL-Stars. But I think these pastel colours ad to the variety of Safaris greatly.

This pen case is indeed the perfect match. They must feel very at home there.

They look super nice, great pics. Can't wait for mine...I think I'll call them "the three sisters" after a famous landmark in Australia.

LOL Thank you both.

I must admit when it comes to the Lamy Safaris (and then when they are pastel!!!) I can be like a kid (and forget that I have grown up children!)

I got the blue one yesterday, and it's actually way nicer than I imagined - a nice, fresh, minty blue. The green one's just as nice. Not so sure about the pink one; that one seems a bit... simplistic, color-wise. There's some fun green-ish undertones in the blue pen and some fun yellow-ish in the green one, while the pink pen is really just pink. Then again, I'm exceedingly picky when it comes to shades of pink, so I can't really blame Lamy for that one.

Here's a little photo I snapped of the blue pen:

That said, the color is a bit of a dirt magnet.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
