Quality, Nice And Cheap Leather Pen Cases On The Bay

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to give a heads up to a nice opportunity in eBay. But first, let me state clearly that I have no connection with the seller.

I saw last month a couple of offers for "authentic leather pen cases", one of them for a two-pen case, and another for a one-pen case. Each for a really cheap price. So cheap I thought, why not? What's the worst that may happen? If they were PU, it wouldn't hurt that much at this price (approx. ~6 and ~3 USD and free international shipping). So, I ordered them.

After a few weeks, I got them a couple of days ago, and they do really feel and look like really genuine leather. Both of them are very nice, fairly good quality so far, and real bang for the buck. The page description and pictures are a lot better than any pictures I can take, just visit the seller's ad.

I have the two pen case (which is thinner leather, though somewhat firm) with two Garant Alkors now and it's great (the Garants are sort of like in between an MB 146 and 149, close to the larger size). I can't tell yet how will it age or endure the hardships of continued use, but for now, it looks great and at a great price. The one pen case is made of thicker leather, sturdier, and a tighter fit (although my experience with other similar cases is that after some use it should yield and adapt.

A real surprise, as these cases are usually sold for more. Actually, before, the cheapest one-pen case I could find on Amazon was more expensive. Quality-wise, there is little difference among this and the single-pen case I got from eBay, but price is significantly smaller.

Recently, I started seeing even cheaper offers by other sellers on eBay, but those I haven't tested. Perhaps someone else can chime in and comment on those.

If you are to be ephemeral, leave a good scent.

Nice pen sleeves, I bought the Mala single pen versions and the small one is a perfect fit for the Kaweco Sport pens. The only thing about Mala is they are finished leather so they won't mellow as they age.

I recently bought a a two pen case from China thinking it might be PU but it's nice soft leather and has a brass stud to keep it closed; the only tweak I'll make is to stick a small leather disc over the underside to the stud as a damage precaution but well worth the $5.

I've recently been looking at these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dosige-Protector-Multifunction-Stationery-Supplies/dp/B0793PKRZT/ref=sr_1_4?keywords=dosige+leather+pen+case&qid=1553093677&s=officeproduct&sr=1-4

I might order a couple and if they are leather stitch a central seam to to make a proper double pouch.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
