The only VP in my little collection of pens. Got this during my University days, got ignored for many years due to crappy hospital progress sheets and the impracticalities of busy and fast moving ward rounds ( as a junior MO) when ball point pens was the only feasible writing instrument. Its been hiding out of view for years, and thanks to your post- its finally seen the light of day.

Why would anyone need more than one?

Signature stub with blue ink for checks

F with red ink for annotations

M with black ink for general writing

B with green ink for mark-up

( or swap red and green)

Why does anyone have more than one of any make/model of pen? Because they're there.... :P

I could very easily see myself getting a second Decimo at some point. My light grey one has a fine nib, and I wouldn't mind getting a dark blue one with, say, a broad nib. Or (finances permitting) one of the LE ones from the pen show flyer that mke posted pix of a week or two ago.

Troll?

This thread has become meaningless. I simply wanted to see some nice designs. But some people like to hijack threads due to their need to discuss other things. Please stay on topic or open your own thread. Thank you.

Ruth,

Unfortunately, they sold out as quick as you could look - or click on the buy button.

I could get one each for someone else.

So, just a teaser, sorry.

For future reference - Pilot Decimo sold at the 20th International Fountain Pen Festival of the department store Mitsukoshi Nihombashi in Tokyo 2019. LE editions 100 pens each.

Sigh. That's what I had feared. The blue one is awfully pretty.

Well, not getting one will make the husband happy....

a little bit off-topic

If anyone wants to try another vanishing point pen, e.g. a Lamy Dialog 3, today is a good chance to buy one at Endless Pens. They have a special special sales for the piano white one.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
