I have to be honest, I don't like it. I have the Red Tortoiseshell, which is desperately pretty, and I also love the lizard skin and brown tortoiseshell versions (which I sadly don't have but would buy if I ever have the chance to acquire a decent pre-owned one). Until this blue gray one came out, I hated the bright red M101N, but after seeing the new blue gray M101N, I'm starting to warm up to the bright red version and might get one if if the price is right. For me to get the new blue gray version, it would have to be one heck of a deal. Perhaps if I can get one in a fire sale after they get discontinued. Otherwise it's a hard pass for me.

Sorry but it's one I don't like and won't be getting. Apart from the lizard one with 'diamonds' I bought the others. The 'ordinary' lizard being at the bottom of the list.

I'll just keep my eyes open and see what's next - if any.

Why, when someone asks about the mere availability of a pen, do people feel compelled to denigrate it?
The OP did not ask for any opinions about looks, size, value, or even performance.

Yet people felt empowered to attack the pen.

The Pelikan M101N grey-blue is somber in appearance compared to previous m101n releases. It has a sartorial elegance about it which I quite like.

I like it, and yes, I have it pre-ordered.

Glenn, LCdC and Iguana are offering preorders, and naturally, Fritz Schimpf.

I really like the looks of blue grey, love how 101N fits my writing habits, so ... when users pictures appear - I will make a decision.

I am waiting to see actual photos of the m101n blue grey prior to making a decision about purchasing it.

I must admit that the pioroteka picture of the m101n grey blue on instagram looks nice. I'm definitely buying this version of the m101n.

Ok, I'll be the first to eat crow. I really like the photo from "the wild". Much better than the promo pictures...and almost nice enough to make me consider ordering. I'll wait for more photos from the wild though before making a final decision.

Thanks for posting those links, very useful. I still think I need to see this pen in real life; can I wait until maybe as long as the Pelikan Hub though? (Assuming they're happening again this year ...)

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
