London Spring Show

Only two weeks away now! (It's on Sunday, March 10.)

Who's going? I need to rein-in my spending but wouldn't mind doing a bit of ahem, 'research'!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

  • 2 weeks later...

This is tomorrow! Hope there's a good turnout. There's a few things I hope to be able to track down.

so, bbs, did you find everything you were hoping for?

I hope the organisers are happy with the turnout and the amount of money spent so that we have an annual Spring show in London!

Oh dear, I have to confess now .... I didn't make it. I didn't get to bed till 3am then we had a power cut at home affecting much of Kent and I wasn't sure the trains would be running. I think the main reason though was that I really don't have any money for pens at the moment and if I'd gone I just know I'd have weakened.

I regret it now - I wanted to support the organisers and it would have been good to meet up with people. Ah well, roll on October. Not too fast, though ...

I hope those who did go had a good time. Let's see your goodies, please!

Wow what a haul!

Good for you. Looking forward to seeing some reviews and posts with your spoils.

Hope you had a lovely time.

It was a good show. There were a few dealers missing but the hall and side corridors were well covered by stalls. I would estimate about half the attendance of the October show, but for a first show I think the organisers will consider it a success.

I was happy with my haul.

I only went there for a couple of pens and one bottle of ink ....http://i.imgur.com/P6Jl72X.jpg http://i.imgur.com/5WwIw0m.jpg http://i.imgur.com/ZduoMOi.jpg

Wow, what beauties! Now you see why I stayed away .... The Leonardo Hawaii was on my list and LOVE that Twiss pen, gorgeous. And the Onoto ....

Very glad to hear it seems to have been a success.

Yeah was hoping you'd part save me by buying the wooden pen from John Twiss before I came back post lunch. Just can't trust you any more :P

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
