I see some text around the bottom of the caps, what does it say?  My bet is that the are generic Chinese pens.

Capped they look similar to the M2 line, uncapped, they don't look like that line at all, which had push button ballpoints, and not friction fit. How "old" is old? These could be left overs from one of the recent "revival" attempts of the brand. The sections look very different from any of Esterbrook's vintage ballpoints. Is there any writing on the refill as well?

FP Ink Orphanage-Is an ink not working with your pens, not the color you're looking for, is never to see the light of day again?!! If this is you, and the ink is in fine condition otherwise, don't dump it down the sink, or throw it into the trash, send it to me (payment can be negotiated), and I will provide it a nice safe home with love, and a decent meal of paper! Showing the refills will tell for certain "old" or "recent."  That said, the only ballpoint I have from Esterbrook, a desk pen, has a metal refill in it.

Towards the end, who am I kidding, all along, Esterbrook came up with all kinds of oddities and different kinds of pens that don't seem to match the standard lines.

They're nice looking, nonetheless.

I believe a refill is shown in the third photo down on the initial post, doesn't show any markings, but what can be seen does make me wonder about it's manufacture....
