Even though I like the looks of my blue-striped M600 better, my hand instinctively grabs my green-striped 400 NN. It's just the better tool out of these two, and it's not really lacking in aesthetics either. Both pens have custom-ground nibs. I prefer the cursive italic of the 400 NN over the stub in M600.

If I only could keep one? - hard decision!

It could be this:

...or this:

16622028005_54a4e383f6_b.jpgPelikan 400 hellschildpatt - light tortoise von -C.M.Z-

...or this

...or...

I would love to just imagine owning such pens. Magnificent!

Oh, man. That's a hard one. There are so many. It might be one of these ...

Left to right: M620 Piazza Navona; M800 with custom binde in "Night Jewels" by Shawn Newton; M600 with custom binde in "Amadeo" by Shawn Newton.

The M620 Athens would certainly be in the running, but I gifted that one to my wonderful Greek DIL.

101N Tortoise (post war).

My favorite is the PRE-war 101N with a tortoise cap.

White tortoise M400, with my Iconic Blue M120 coming in a very close second (although I think the nib on the M120 prejudices me towards it - the tortoise is most definitely the better looking pen in my book).

In terms of pure aesthetics, it would be my M400 White Tortoise. Stunning is the word I used when it arrived in October to describe it.

I'll go with my Pelikan 400 Steno. Nib, binde, engraved finial, Vintage Vibe... it all comes together for me.

pix, thank you for naming some of these unique birds!  What "city" is the blue-green one in the center?

thank you, pix!  "Athens" is utterly gorgeous... rather like being in the sea itself!
