Which Pilot Colours Are Your Favourite?

It has been suggested to me by pseudo88 that I should poll everyone to see what their favourite pilot inks are as I guide to which inks to stock. I thought about creating a poll but it would have too many choices, so if you feel like letting me know reply with your fav inks. I'd really appreciate it.

I did wonder about you stocking Diamine as they make so, so, so many colors. Iroshizuku (INMHO) may be the best ink line out here and comes in only 24 colors so you could conceivably stock the entire line. Yama-Budo, Asa-Gao, and Ku-Jaku are my favorites in that order.

BTW a very similar poll has already ben done here https://www.fountainpennetwork.com/forum/topic/290775-pilot-iroshizuku-full-line-24-inks/

Yama-budo, Yama-guri, Kon-peki, Take-sumi, and Tsuyu-kusa. Probably mostly in that order.

My favorite Pilot ink is fairly boring: Pilot Blue Black. I appreciate Kon-peki and Shin-Kai, but I still with the non-Iroshizuku inks on a day to day basis.

Currently inked:

- Pilot Custom 743 <M> with Pilot Black

- Pelikan M120 Iconic Blue <B> with Pilot Blue

- Lamy Studio All Black <M> with Pilot Blue-Black

My favorite is Murasaki Shikibu, but threads like this have taught me it is one of the least popular of the line.

To my mind, it differs from other inks in the same color range in that it has a distinctly floral feel. I always use it around this time of year, when the plum trees outside my window are in bloom.

Fuyu-Syogun, Take Sumi, and Kon-Peki for me!

Another vote for Tsuki-yo!

I use Pilot Parallel Pen Mixable Color (PPPMC) cartridges in my red Pilot Falcon SF pen. They work fine. Jes changed from red to black. No problems. One line, all is fine!

OTOH, one of the Iroshizuku samples faded on me (same age as the PPPMC cartridges). I tossed it, so do not recall the color. I think it was a blue the faded to gray.

I still have two reddish Iroshizuku colors I've yet to try. They look good. ;)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
