Layered Midori-tamenuri, which features a luminous green under-layer against a black background, was only made briefly available by Nakaya in early 2017 before being discontinued. Nakaya owners loved this beautiful finish, but Nakaya found it difficult to meet the demand for this style, which is particularly time-consuming in its preparation and challenging to achieve in a consistent hue.

After further experimentation and refinement of technique by master urushi artisans in the traditional craft center of Wajima on the west coast of Japan, Nakaya is now making Midori-tamenuri finish available again. Anticipating strong demand, it is initially being made available only in the Decapod, Neo Standard, and Portable models, with addtional models, including our own exclusive Naka-ai, expected to be added in the near future.

The first Midori-tamenuri pens are expected to arrive in the spring, and we are now accepting pre-orders - you will not be charged until your pen arrives here and is ready to ship to you.
