Salaam, Dr- Sahib. Please listen to waht Khan-Saab has to say, you have to get a Parker 51 in your collection!!!!! :) And Khan-Saab is also in Islamabad. I am an Indian living in the USA, but, I have relatives in Bhawalpur and Lahore.

Anyways, welcome to FPN!!! :):)

-Sid

Thanks. Good to know you Sid specially in the tumultuous times these days. I got a Parker 61 just today, saw a Parker 51 ad on ebay or somewhere for 1770 Dollars. Guess that would be difficult for me to acquire.

Thanks anyways. Cheers

Greetings and welcome to FPN from Islamabad, Pakistan.

Next you need a good old Parker 51, Dr sahib. Else, you are not a real penlover. :D

Thanks Khan Sb. Good to know you. I am a doctor by education but not in medical practice. Changed course many years back. I love to use fountain pens and would have loved to write prescriptions with them. Infact I know a cardiologist who spends more time on writing prescription in his neat hand writing rather than examining the patient :) Parker 61 nahi mil raha tau 51 kahan se milay ga Khan sb. Let me know if you know of any good shops anywhere in Pakistan.

Regards

Greetings from the northeast of England. Don't take all those fanatics too seriously, just go for the early Parker Sonnets, best pens in the world!

Thank you and thank you again for the sound advice :)

Welcome. How do you like the Waterman Hemisphere? I have two Watermans (Laureat and Phileas) but they are from before the year 2000.

A very smooth writer in Medium nib. I like it very much and thank you

Qureshi-Saab, just get in touch with Khan-Saab. He lives in Islamabad, I think, and he will be able toget you a good Parker 51 pen, and you wont have to pay a lot of money for it either.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
