Wow, Moonman and PenBBS have been really making some nice pens. It will be fun to see what they do next.

You are quite right. I have requested that the mods. kindly rename the topic.

doubt that it will happen soon, but who knows maybe it has better demand and it will be there faster, for example Natami Inception (chinese version of Platinum 3776) is still nowhere to be seen and one month since release already passed

Duofold material and Aurora clip... close but no sigar.

I wonder if it's really so hard to come up with something original...

I've said before, first Chinese company that does that and adds very good quality too will sell one pen (possibly more ) to each one of us here!

waiting for it to happen...

It's nice to see that PenBBS is still promoting pens considered to be their competitor.

As for the pen itself, I'm not too crazy about it honestly.

It looks interesting. I quite like my Moonman 80S ... but it doesn't hold a candle to my actual Parker 45. So for that kind of money, I think I'll give it a pass. The Kaco Master 14K doesn't cost much more, and seems much more interesting despite the only comment I've heard about its quality (coincidentally also from Beini's IG) being that it's "disappointing".

Nice looking pen. Cost: $63.83. The Parker Duofold is a beautiful pen! For another $15-20 I can find me a Bexley Prometheus design.

the fact you can find that clip anywhere for $2 does not mean that has not been copied too...

Aurora uses that shaped clip in its Aurora 88 BIG (and then in the Optima) since the day they started producing it in the 1990s (i.e almost 30 years)

You're right here though!

If the prices rise this far and quality is questionable then some of Howard's pens become highly competitive.

1990s? It's just laughable. I can also claim that Parker has been using that design since 1920s on their Duofolds.

And I'm pretty sure that design has existed longer than that. You can give your own names to things in whatever way you want but just don't come up with novels please.

you're approximating, the Aurora clip is not like that,

the point however is elsewhere

the point is I would love to see some original designs from Chinese manufacturers, not an ugly mix of existing designs.

PenBBS 309, 456...

yes, they're finally getting on the right path, but quality still seems to be questionable

It's exactly the same design as shown in the Moonman picture so it's YOU who are approximating, not me. And it's not an ugly mix of existing designs. It's exactly the same design as the original Duofold clip, which Parker itself abandoned years ago.

Just stop abusing this thread with your extremley biased and ill-informed claims. The OP posted the link as a good willed attempt to inform people who are interested. If you need a place to discuss how ALL Chinese pens are ugly mix of existing designs and poor quality, I'm pretty sure there are better places on the forum. Why not just start a thread like "Why ALL Chinese pens are ugly mix of existing designs and poor made???"

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
