I'm a fan of Hero 232 iron gall blue-black ink but haven't been able to find it on eBay or the usual Chinese sites like Aliexpress. Does anyone know if it has been discontinued??

Thanks

well its currently cataloged and I had no trouble getting it on TaoBao or even local stationary supply ... I suppose the small quantity online retail is too much trouble for fright on part of the seller so they dearly do not bother. I am not seeing it going away on Hero's catalog ... its one of their best selling ink and many swear by it for its well .. non-character I suppose and of course its being water proof once dried

The seller advertises Free Shipping - but it is not.

Additionally, I pay just a little bit more for Pilot's Iroshizuku inks.

So, no thank you.

well I've seen printed catalog ( dealer item ) that the shop I goto and they have all their inks and many stationary items there ; the version I came across is Fall 2018 and the shop tell me that Hero typically had these dealer catalog once or twice a year depending. They used to have a web presence but I think the pull it down sometime ago. That shop in Shanghai so I guess they are kind of with an advantage to that. Most of the catalog is actually about school and art supply

I learned from Pil that it's actually illegal in china to ship ink. Anything that we get is bootleg/smuggled out of China and then sold. It's why we couldn't buy the special penbbs box set with ink (and penbbs ink is expensive and hard to find despite costing 3 bucks a bottle in china)

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
