Using All Of The Ink In A Noodler's Ink Bottle.

This thought came to my old brain today. ---- I have three bottles of Noodler's inks. There is a huge amount of ink in these bottles! I just wondered if any of you have ever completely used all of the ink in one of these 3 oz. bottles.

Would really enjoy "hearing" from you.

From what I read at least one member of this website can use a 3 oz bottle in a month.

Does this person write 24/7?

And yes, I have used up a few bottles, but not in a month.

Not even close yet on a Noodler's bottle. My Apache Sunset is the closest, and it is still about half full. I have finished three 50 ml bottles of Levenger ink and a couple of 62.5 ml bottles of Pelikan 4001.

Well, I can only give you a real answer if you let me know the names of those three Noodler's inks.

I "finished" a 50 ml bottle of Lamy Blue-Black. I poured it into a second bottle. That bottle got dumped into my computer keyboard by the toddler.

Noodler's Old Manhattan Black. It took four years, but I did it. And I went all the way down to the last drop.

I love the smell of fountain pen ink in the morning.

Some members here love very wide nib point pens that also have high flow. Such pens (for example a Lamy 2000 with very broad nib or a lot of vintage flexy pens) can go through their ink fill quickly. Thus it’s much easier to use up a full ink bottle when using those pens than if one writes with dry Japanese extra fine nibs.

I'm working my way (slowly) through a 4.5oz bottle of Borealis Black, which I dilute 4:5 with water, to reduce its featherocious behavior (even in pens as fine and dry as a Hero 616). I always have at least one pen filled with it. I've had it for a few years, and I'm likely to have it for a few years more. But as it's the bottle I'm trying most to use up, and the one I've used the most of, it's also the one most likely to be used up first.

I am 1/2 way through my second bottle of Noodler's black. Granted, a few mixes were made from its contents but it has been used an awful lot. Sadly less so nowadays. Heart Of Darkness has taken over from plain old black.

I consumed a 4.5 oz bottle of Nikita in about three years. It was my primary grading ink for student work. During the same time I used one 30 mL bottle of J. Herbin Rouge Caroubier, a bottle of Ottoman Rose, and half a bottle of Cayenne. I graded a lot of papers.

I've used bottles of Black and am on the verge of ordering a new bottle before I run out. Granted, running out is not a quick process, given my fine and extra fine nib preferences.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
