Interesting idea. But not at that price....

I can buy fountain pens for way less money than their "in" price. And an aluminum architect's ruler costs under $20 US at Staples (a plastic one was six bucks and change).

Cool looking but what is the actual price. $50 pledge gets you %50 off of price, but no mention of the price. Looks like a pig in a poke to me.

That is odd. It could be 50% off anything. $500.00

Yeah. A couple of winters ago I needed a new coat and there was a 50% off sale at Macy's. And even then I couldn't afford anything there.... Ended up getting the same percentage markdown at Sears on a Lands End stadium parka -- warmer, better looking and $80 US....

Of course when I looked at the link again I realized that the four-figure price I was seeing was how far along in the kickstarter process they'd come. And then realized that there WAS no price listed. And 50% of zero is, well, zero....

Going off previous Kickstarter projects by ENSSO, he's saying this is 50% below the RRP or MSRP he anticipates setting for the final project. Doesn't always work that way though - with the XS Pocket Fountain Pen it ended up being closer to a 25-30% discount, but a really good pen. I like the idea of this one too, but not sure I'd use it!

About the ruler design itself. Won't it wick ink from the point where pen tip/tine, ruler, and paper, made contact ?

Rulers for ink have a small gap underneath to avoid this. But the KS pen's seems flush with the paper at the bottom side.

Then there's this old topic.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
