Hello,

I am Chris (Castoff), I am a theatre maker living on the Wirral in the UK.

I have owned fountain pens all my life but only ever used them occasionaly. I have recently found that I think better by making hand-drawn mind maps and  notes on flip chart sized paper on my kitchen table. This has drawn me back to writing by hand and thence to fountain pens. I have found my watermans expert, only to find it damaged, so I have now bought a LAMY vista to keep me going until I can wrok out if my waterman is saveable. So that's what has brought me here and I am looking forward to feeding my love of fountain pens so that I am never without at least one, again. Hope to see you all around the site.

Thanks

Chris

Hi all and thanks for the warm welcome. I'm afraid so Paul (with a little help from dog "Stanley". Spun to the floor, bounced on the end of the body, cracking the top andmthen onto the nib, which it bent nicely. I can live with the end, which can probably be glued, but the nib has not fared well.

I was astonished to find that replacements have to include the whole section and come in at around £35. Not sure whether it's better to buy a whole new pen and keep the peices for spares. I'm new to this fascinating Fountain Pen World and I am hooked already, so some good has come out of the accident no matter what.

Thanks Pen Nut, I've checked out the venue for this year and it's within half an hour from my home so I will definitely be attending. It's a whole new world!

Thanks again all

Chris - believe your Waterman is a modern offering, rather than something prior to WW II which is more my cup to tea - so regret I'm not the best person to advise on suitable course of action.                     However, for what it's worth my suggestion might be to purchase another pen, if for no other reason that presently you don't know if the 'drop' many have caused other issues that will surface in the coming months etc.

Best of luck.

Hello Chris and welcome to FPN, from Cape Town, South Africa.

To sit at one's table on a sunny morning, with four clear hours of uninterruptible security, plenty of nice white paper, and a [fountain] pen - that is true happiness!

- Winston Churchill
