Parker 51 Canadian/english High Diamond Placement

Ok so i have a parker 51 aerometric , barrel is made in england..cap is made in canada.. with a high placed diamond i have never seen?? This pen is original as it was my grand fathers.. im not sure of what color to place it as aswell ..could anyone shed some light on this pen for me?i have attached images

I am no expert but could it be that the cap is from an earlier Vacumatic "51". Not quite frankenpen but close.

 

The blue diamond was used for Vacumatic pens and was, I believe, a symbol for the lifetime guarantee.

The cap belongs to the earlier vac 51 line. FarmBoy would, soon, chime in to shed light on the high resting blue diamond on the clip.

The cap appears to have a very early blue diamond clip, as in first year.

Im from south africa.. what i can say is we dont and in those days esp have access to replace things..i once read that canada would export parts to other countries as they had to much stock and i once read that it is possible that some..very few aerometric pens may have been sold with early diamond caps??? As the barrel is english and the rest of the pens i have are all only english..

That is possible, but I tend to think that the clip and possibly the cap predated the current pen body. If the pen was broken after most of the Vacumatic parts were used up, then the only fix would have been to pull the nib, discard the rest of the pen body, presumably broken, install it into a new body with the new filling mechanism, put the old cap on and the repair/ replacement of broken old parts with working new parts. This might have happened at any time from some time in the 1950s when Vacumatic parts might have become unavailable locally, through the end of the production of the 51 and the availability if new parts at a reasonable cost.
