Carrying Pens Safely To Work

Congrats! Do write in time how you get along with them :)

Will do :) !

Congrats!

I see that you also have a few Pilot Metros. Good choice!

When I was in grad school, I used my fountain pens along with mechanical pencils. I used a artist's watercolor brush roll to put my pens in. They fit pretty well, and the pen roll fit very well in my backpack. I did keep an inexpensive pen in the top pocket of my backpack for quick access.

Now I have two bright red, zippered ManhattanPortage pen cases made of Cordura nylon. Each pen has its own pocket. I can easily fit 4 fountain pens and a slim mechanical pencil in each one. I really like these because they protect the pens (they aren't banging into each other in an open case), and they are protected from other things on the outside. They easily slip into my briefcase and are easy to get to find.

Yeah, I love the Pilot Metro's! The picture doesn't show all my fountainpens (and the other pens for that matter). I have a black Safari, a Water Graduate Chrome CT and a white/blue marbled Waterman.

Hello there! 2 things:

1) You can use your metal box but if you do, then I recommend you buying some affordable 1-pen pouch. You can buy 100 pieces for 20 bucks. Please look for eBay item number 233124411242 description is "LOT OF 100 BLACK VELVET PEN POUCH/SLEEVE HOLDER- LARGER LEEDS BRAND"

2) I use the LIHIT LAB Pen Case, 7.9 x 2 x 4.7 inches, Black (A7551-24) that you can buy from Amazon USA for less than 9 USD.
Wish you can enjoy your pens at home and work!

I have quite inexpensive 1-pen-pouches:

The metal tubes of cigars! That will even keep ink inside in case of an accident.

The most common size hold even Wing Sung 3008.

They would also hold Jinhao x450 and x750 if they didn't have these curved pins!

My Jinhao 500 fit well.

To protect the surface of the pens I use the soft pen-pouches that came with my Jinhao pens.

I don't have expensive pens, so for now I'm just carrying my FPs in a pencil pouch in my purse. I have some single pen pouches coming in the mail that I plan to put the FPs in.

the size is quite normal and not necessarily expensive:

The one in the middle has already seen some "action" ;)

The Havana from Dannemann was a bit better, the others were nothing very special (below 5 €)

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
