OCArt

Recommended Posts

Any chance of bring back FPN Galileo Manuscript Brown? The reviews sounded good, reddish brown. permanent, etc. I'd like to buy a bottle but it has been out-of-stock for a long time. Any recommendations for a permanent brown??

Thanks in advance.

I'm a big fan of Platinum Sepia. Gorgeous color, well behaved on everything but newsprint, and though it's a micro-pigmented ink I've had no flow issues in any of the pens I've tried it in.

I liked the color of JHerbin Cafe des Iles, but it was always dry, and some reported problems in the nib, which I never experienced myself. After looking around for awhile, I tried Graf Von Faber Castell Hazelnut Brown, with which Ive been pleased. It has a slight reddish cast that I like in browns, and has been well behaved for me. The attached link shows sample writings which appear closest to what Ive seen in my own writing. Some other reddish browns Ive tried are both Monteverde inks, which Ive had good experiences with in their Sapphire Blue, Black, and Yosemite Green inks. Canyon Rust and Copper Noir are more reddish brown than the GvFC Hazelnut, to be sure, but both are interesting to my eye. None of these have any appreciable water resistance. We still have some. I need to do a count. We are out of the blue right now. We will have them back in stock when we place our next order.

Fountain pens are my preferred COLOR DELIVERY SYSTEM (in part because crayons melt in Las Vegas).

We are having to place a new order. We are sold out. In January we should also be releasing a new color.

A new lot of the good ol' GMB or a completely new FPN ink?

Both.

We need to restock GMB and we will order more VGSN but we have been talking about a green.

I love the Galileo brown. I don't have too many browns, but what few I have, the Galileo is my favorite consistently.

I'm late to this party, but I love Manuscript Brown and still have about 1/2 bottle.

Looks like all the special inks are out. I'd love to pick up GMB, VCV, and actually all of them. Any idea when they'll come back in stock?

Also, please do green!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
