Parker 50 Falcon Photo Thread

Recommended Posts

Hi, Folks!

Thought I would start a thread on the integral nib Parker 50 Falcon, the poor mans T-1. I only have the one to show and would like to see more.

This is a Parker 50B Falcon Matte Black fountain pen c. 1980. This 5 1/8 inch long cartridge / converter fountain pen is noted for its integrated stainless steel nib. The nib is essentially an extension of the section all the way to the slit for the tines and the tipping material. The matte black finish was complemented with chrome plated trim. PARKER over MADE IN U.S.A. is stamped on the back cap lip. Available nib grades were extra fine, fine, medium and broad. Matching ballpoint pens and pencils were offered.

Amazing pens Glenn!

I will include a photo just to show that the cap-actuated ballpoint also has the Cousin Eddie widow's peak (stolen description, I don't recall from whom).

One test is worth a thousand expert opinions.

Not actually mine, belongs to a friend, rescued from a decade (or more) unused in a desk drawer.

A good soak and a flush (or three) and it writes as good as new. It's the matte brown model.

Lovely smooth nib to write with! Effortless. Looks like a kugel.

@ Spikey Mike: Is that a gold Harlequin Falcon at the bottom of your picture?!!? Wow!

It's a special pattern that I believe was used exclusively for pens supplied to WH Smiths stationary shops in the UK and was marketed as the "Golden Falcon"

I like Falcons too, and the blue one is oh so very cool, so here is a red one.

And here is a Falcon Arrow. And I put a standard Falcon next to it so that everyone can see that the nib/section is much shorter.

Is the red a prototype?

I've never seen the color before.

It has to be, only Black an Brown were sold. I doubt that there is a red BP out there, but I can always hope. I have a telephone dialer in my collection as well.

Sure Glen, no problem.

The first pen sports a standard section, same as the TX brown or the gold plated version.

The section on the second pen is unlike any Falcon I have seen before, all black, no widows peak.

Better pictures.

Hope this helps

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
