With Which Watches Do You Pair Your Montblanc's?

What do you generally pair with what, when it comes to your pens and watches?

I generally pair my Cartier Ballon Bleu Black Chronograph with my A380 Skeleton.

This is the selection of watches which I currently have: (I usually pair the Montblanc Flyback with a 149.)

~ I generally pair my Timex Indiglo with my Montblanc Cruise ballpoint.

Considering that I haven't worn a wristwatch in nearly half a century, exclusively using the Indiglo for timing student presentations, it's the only possible pairing.

It might seem a tad pretentious, but such is life.

While I do have watches, and more than a few pens, it has never occurred to me to try to match or pair them... hmm...

nah, I'm just clueless

Bill, its a different case for me. I don't have enough money to support my fountain pen, wallet (mostly LV's), sunglasses (again mostly LV's), watch collection. (then there's also my comic books and anime action figures)

So yeah, I don't have enough money to support these uh, addiction?, erhm collections?

I don’t wear a watch, either, so toss me in with Tom. About the only thing I tend to match are my earrings to my outfits and that’s more of an aesthetic color choice thing based on the stones. I haven’t found anything my pens don’t go with.

I wear a Rolex GMT BLNR and usually carry a MB UNICEF ballpoint. However, Im thinking about getting another MB. Id appreciate everyones thoughts.

I know its vain. But, I need something to break up the conformity of the gray flannel suit.

PS - Im relatively new to the forum, but have appreciated everyones insightful posts.

No chance to really "match" ;-)

Being stuck to titanium watches I mostly wear some really great Citizen watches or a titanium Stowa diver's watch.

I may take some pictures later.

Cheers

Michael

Batman, nice!

Last year I wandered into local dealer & asked about BLNR... he laughed. :(

Came out, dropped into local MB boutique down the road... picked up a small bottle & the staffer uncapped a nice FP for me to fill their form in. Felt nice in hand, compact... asked if that's for sale... she laughed - turned out to be some UNICEF LE from a few yrs back, all sold out. :(

Ah well.

I like vintage :)

Tamiya,

Same here. Over the phone with my local boutique I asked about a 1917 LE JFK and heard only laughter.

I recently did see a de Balzac complete set and was entranced. Unfortunately, my wallet was less enthused.

The search continues...

Have a great weekend!

Welcome to the forum! Unless you’re an undertaker, how about a little color?

My watch collection feels excessive at three examples so matching opportunities are limited, especially because none of my watches are black plastic and none of my Montblancs are metal. I have more scope with S T Dupont or Waterman.

Meanwhile, at first glance I mis-read Ghost Plane's post to say...

... About the only thing I tend to match are my earnings to my outfits ....

which seemed eminently sensible to me. :)

My watch collection is limited as well--an Omega steel Broad Arrow Chronograph for everyday, along with two simple Patek Philippes and a Jaeger-Lecoultre Reverso for dress. I don't make any attempt to coordinate watches with pens.

Rationalizing pen and ink purchases since 1967.

Have a great weekend!

This Sunday was our annual Pen Show, weekend undoubtably great :D

Got to leave fingerprints on many nice pens, but nothing much I needed. Plenty of MBs on offer (but I only bought some ink haha)... but in a strange reversal, Pilot was there in huge force today - there were some Namiki Maki-E units for sale dearer than the usual MB prices. Not particularly interested in anything just because they're expensive, tbh... wasn't enthused enough to take a second glance,

Pen Show attendees often like good watches too ;) so I sported a classic Tudor Oyster Prince. Rather chilly day today so everybody was wearing jackets; sadly long sleeves make (surreptitious!) wristspotting a bit harder... didn't get to spot anything interesting today. Last year was warmer & no jackets, saw a fair few latemodel Rs, some vintage Omegas etc.

Melbourne Pen show? I'm so sad I couldn't go because of work (plus it being interstate).

I do not want to start overthinking pens, watches, suits and ties. To me pens are writing instruments and writing instruments only. However, I enjoy seeing other people having fun with their pens and watches. As long as no one gets hurt, it is all good.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
