What All Did I Just Buy?

Full disclosure I bought these hoping to restore resell most of them and keep 1 or two for myself. Also I'm very green and learning.

I know there are some skylines, a symphony, I think the grey is is an oxford. As for the rest, dorics? Ventura? I'm not as familiar with the rest of the eversharp lineup. I paid 200 for the lot. I'm pretty sure I did ok?

Oh. . . And any info on the pencils?

Seem to recall bidding on that group.

Knowing what you are buying is always good and can give you a leg up on all the other (TDH)s out there.

San Francisco International Pen Show - The next “Funnest Pen Show” is on schedule for August 23-24-25, 2024.  Watch the show website for registration details.

I'm a fan of lots myself, because I love surprises! Particularly enjoy the pen inscribed "installation" just right of the skyline. Please update us with close ups when you get these beauties in!

I'm thinking I may have made some of you mad, and if so, I apologize. Eversharp is what kicked this whole fountain pen thing into overdrive for me. My dad gave me my grandpa's old skyline. I straightened the nib replace the non existant breather and re sacced. Since then it seems like the eversharps I come across are just the most pleasant to work on.

I saw this lot at the last minute did some quick math based on what I've been seeing on the bay and figured at 200 worst case I would break even and keep 1 or two.

I've been looking to match these as best I can between penhero and indy pen dance, i just get a bit confused with the different faceted models and figured I'd put it out there to the guys who know more than me.

That being said thanks for calling me tall dark and handsome but my wife doesnt like me talking like that on the internet ;)

It was late last night when I posted and upon re reading I fear I may have glossed over the main point.

Basically, I'm sure I came off like an FNG,but basically, I am, I know it, I'm just asking for some help, and I was under the impression this was the place to do it.

Once again I'm sorry if I angered anyone and would really appreciate any knowledge you are willing to give.

I have no clue what I saw in the pile that caused me to pop in a bid. Could well have been just a random bid to see what’s there.

Once the pile arrives it will be easier to determine what you have.

Likely you did fine.

The oddball skyline

From penhero (italic bold, my highlight)

All Solid Color Plastic Cap and Barrel - These were the cheapest Skylines and are solid color pens in with the cap and barrel in all black, green, navy blue, brown, dubonnet (burgundy), or silver gray plastic. The cap may be smooth or have radial engraved lines. The derby is plastic and matches the body color. Trim may include a thin or wide cap band. Wide cap band pens are the least common. All solid color pens came in all sizes, but the Executive size was made only in black. One version of the all-solid pen has the half or short clip, no cap band, and was the least expensive model. The clip on these pens stops at the derby, instead of going over the top. These low-end pens were made in the standard size only. T

Ok, so got everything in, and sorted through most of it. I've got to say some of it was actually I great condition, some very much not. I've identified most of the pens. This is the one I have the question on.post-145901-0-27097300-1543432373_thumb.jpg

Equi-poised?

If so, is there a reference on the different model sizes? I've read the usual places, but I cant seem to find details on the different version dimensions.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
