5Th Technology Refill Adapted As A Fibre Tip Refill

Haw anyone tried to adapt / convert a 5th technology refill to fit a fibre tip pen , eg 45 , for which the current rollerball refills don't fit, as they are to wide ? I am thinking of trimming the "wings" at the business end of a 5th technology refill, and try to fit one on my 45 as well as my Jotter fibre tips, for which no new refills are being made, but I would like to know if someone has had this idea before and what were the results, before starting trimming.

Yes, I have seen this before, I have even tried a bit on my own adapting parts of old refills to fit on a fibre tip pen, that is by using a dremel and plastic parts parts from an old fibre tip refill, or a current rollerball refill to adapt a ballpoint refill to use in my own fibre tip Parker 45. It works just fine (my method that is), but I would like to try with a 5th Technoolgy refill as well, so I would like to know if someone has thought of something like it before me and what were the results.

I don't think will work well. The tip of 5th refill is kind of flexible and it is hold in the position by fake nib-like metal on the pen itself. If you decide to try I would like to see the result.

I have a Parker rollerball refill in my 45 felt tip pen now. Seems to work.

Hi all,

As I remember the 5th is like a fine liner / fibre tip. I think they are physically large and doesn't fit in many pens. I use other brand refills.

I have a Parker 45 Touche' and also replaced the original cartridge with a Parker rollerball. Are you trying to find a fiber tip type refill for your 45?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
