Was launched at the same time as the Studio Olivine and Terracotta. Maybe that is why it was overlooked by many. Very nice rose color though

Nice pen and color, would like to see it in person.

It would make a lovely female writing companion preferably with a 14K nib and a Lamy pen pouch.

I prefer the Scala to the Studio, but own and use both.

The Scala definitely looks better than the Studio, IMO.

I have been eyeing the Scala for sometime now. But I love this color. It is definitely on my "buy" list now.

Looks very similar to the color of one of the new LE Safari colors.

I'd have to see it in person, but in the picture it's a little blah and girly for my taste.

IMO, this color is a lot better than the Safari pastels. The 'Powder Rose' looks washed out in comparison.

How does the Scala Compares with the Studio width wise?

Gorgeous color!

Very similar.

Dimensions for comparison, ignore the pen color.

That looks beautiful. I am wondering what’s wrong with me lately as I’m falling in love with these Lamy pastel coloured pens, even the pinks. I don’t wear pink, I don’t own any pink things or pastel coloured items. But it looks like 2019 will see that change.

No harm in adding some more color to the collection. ;) The Scala is a lovely shade of pink.

I bought a steel B as that’s the only Lamy nib I don’t own. I plan to put a gold OB or OM nib on it when it arrives.

Ew. pass. I don't mind the color but polished sections are an instant no for me.

Selling a boatload of restored, fairly rare, vintage Japanese gold nib pens, click here to see (more added as I finish restoring them)

Have you received yet?

When you do would you mind sharing your impression?

I’ve had the pen for almost a week now. It’s my first Scala and heavier than I expected. I have 3 Studios and it’s quite similar, but I like the “flatter” shape better. The Rose colour is just like in the photo above, dusty pink, slightly iridescent, I really like it. I’m using it with a Gold OB nib and Noodlers BSIAR (original formulation) and it looks and feels beautiful. It’s my first “pink” pen and I’m very happy with it.

Glad you liked the color.

I prefer the Scala to the Studio as it is, comparatively, longer and slender.

Enjoy the reams of happiness.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
