Please tell me more about the group...all FPNers or what...

Yes, we're all Fountain Pen people...but not all on FPN. We've only met a few times, so things are less formal than some other groups. But I'd especially enjoy some new faces.

Come on down.....or up, as you'll be coming North 30 miles. :-)

well there is always food. we have a topic, i don't know what this month's will be--and there is show and tell-- and if david i is there we get to ooh and haa. we also buy, sell and trade. we never eat much--but munchies are available. we schmooze about other topics--not too much. all in all, a nice evening spent with other hobbyists. :cloud9:

Maybe we could get Daniel K. to speak about tools or some such thing? Hint, hint?

Has anyone talked to Daniel about coming?

This is what I was thinking of bringing or discussing:

Pens - I haven't thought about what to bring, but how about: my group of Fantasy Parker 51's (6-8), 2x Joe Cali (Caliber), Dani-Trio & Nakaya Urushi/Ebonite.

Inks - New, unusual, or often-talked-about inks:

Noodlers: Socrates, Sequoia, Gruene Cactus, Verdun Green, Naval Orange, Legal Lapis

Diamine: Mediterranean Blue, Royal Blue, Umber (dk green)

Private Reserve: Tangerine Orange, Hot Bubble Gum Pink, Supershow Blue, Supershow Green

Omas: Americo Vespuccin Red, Hong Kong Red

Sailor: Gentle Green

Paper - Stora 4CC paper, supersmooth, ultrawhite

Custom-designed Circa-punched note taking paper,

Rhodia leather pad covers from Japan

Ciak leather journal

Uh...Skip...where do you think Manahawkin is?   Last time I checked, Cranford was about Exit 140 or 142 on the GSP.  I am almost dead center between Exits 67 and 63--so we are talkin' 80+ miles...including the Union and Essex toll booths, if they are still there...

Besides, I think I am persona non gratia....

Ok, not 30 miles, but also not 80+ miles. It's exit 137, no Union or Essex toll booths. And no, you are not persona non grata. So there! :P

OK, so I both underestimated the distance and I got Manahawkin mixed up with Manasquan or Manaloking. Sorry for the confusion. If you can swing it on a Monday night, we'd love to have you.

And as Elaine says....come on, you're not PNG in our eyes.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
