Fellow FPN-er inkantadora (who regularly organises Paris pen meets) discovered sometime ago that the Korean fountain pen ink maker 3Oysters created a collection for the Korean art collective Studio Flaverse. These inks were created to complement an art collection inspired by the “witches” of Greek mythology. Studio Flaverse was inspired by the darker side of the stories of Hera, Pandora, Medusa and Arachne. She was fascinated by the concept and the inks, so she got in touch with Studio Flaverse and was sent a set of four inks for review purpose. These inks were (or will be?) part of a Korean kickstarter campaign (Tumblbug). Many thanks to Inkantadora who kindly shared samples of these inks with me to try. Pandora is a lovely blurple that writes very wet and smooth. I like it. I have nothing to complain about in terms of behaviour.

Sheen

It has a subtle golden/reddish sheen.

Comparison

(Colour-wise I think it is very close to Diamine Bilberry.)

Thank you for the review. Pandora is remarkably close to Diamine Bilberry (which I have not tried yet). Are they also similar in terms of texture?

The Diamine might be a bit more viscous, thicker? Just an impression. I'll get you a sample!

Ooooh....

Be still my heart -- could this be the ink I've been searching for? :wub: A better behaved version of Noodler's Kung Te Cheng? Looks like another sample to add to the "need to get" spreadsheet.

I like the Pandora as well. Do I detect a hint of brown in the Arachne?

There is a touch of brown in Arachne. Its lovely warm grey. Easily my favorite of the set.

I never have been able to buy it, so I'm thinking of dragging out my Bilberry and adding a dash of Ghost Blue.

I doubt their kickstarter has come to anything... Anyway it's not a rare colour. I used up my sample and I don't miss it. I'm sure there are lots of similar colours out there.

I can confirm that the Kickstarter never took off. It was a success in a South Korean crowdfunding equivalent, but they struggled to meet KickStarters requirements.

 

Sooo, making your own might be the best option.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
