Hey all!

For me, the Doric has always been my favorite vintage pen. Its unmistakable looks, unique nibs, etc. have always kept it as a dream pen for me.

Now, I've got a few dorics. But I have dreamt of owning an oversize one. However they were just too rare to find or were out of my budget when I did find one.

Well, the stars aligned last night and I got one.

 

But there's some unique things about what I got; It's a minty complete 2nd gen plunger filler oversize box set with..... jeweler's cap bands.

To me, it's already hard to find a Doric with the box. or pencil. or both! But an oversize one? And with jeweler's cap bands? Sheesh.

 

Can any of you more-experienced Doric collectors inform me on what I've gotten here?

Thanks! Correct me if I'm wrong but this seems to be the first gen slider. Assuming the nib is the original, that would make this pen early 2nd-gen.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
