Early Pelikan 400 with a strange color change

Any explanation for this type of color change?

 

The stripes are uniformly gray on the barrel, where it was not covered by the cap and green where they are covered by the cap.

Probably sunlight exposure.

I agree. It is not uncommon for the green striated Pelikan.

Yep, UV fade. Seen a few just like it. Now only if we could expose the area protected by the cap to match ...
