Hello everyone! I'm new to this forum and a new owner of a Pelikan, well 2 Pelikans. I used a Schaeffer as a kid in junior high school (well, in today's terms, middle school) as well as an Osmiroid with numerous Italic nibs. Later, about 30 years ago I used a Cross cartridge fountain pen for a number of years, then nothing until now. I just bought a couple NOS Pelikans with W. Germany on the cap rings, one a EF M250 (black) and the other a M M400 (green striped). I haven't even gotten ink into them yet, but have some on order. None are Pelikan inks so using them may turn out to be interesting given the posts here about Pelikan nibs being so wet, although the older ones are supposedly less so.

 

Just thought I'd introduce myself and say "Hi!"

Hello and welcome. Sounds like the start of a nice flock.

PELIKAN - Too many birds in the flock to count. My pen chest has proven to be a most fertile breeding ground.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off.
