M600 Vibrant Orange!

bbs

Recommended Posts

Browsing the web last night, I came across this beauty

https://www.iguanasell.co.uk/collections/pens-primary/products/pelikan-special-ed-souveran-600-vibrant-orange-fountain-pen-809542

The picture doesn't show up well on my device, but the material looks to be the same as the M320 Orange. Yummy!

I chose my user name years ago - I have no links to BBS pens (other than owning one!)

There are so many very, very nice 600's....but they have a serious problem....$$$$$.

This one seems to be priced ok - as such things go

Only F,M and B nibs are available. The BB, 3B, OB etc are sold out.

Sadly, a few years ago (five, maybe?) Pelikan stopped manufacturing anything other than EF, F, M, and B for regular distribution. They have apparently also been resistant to large special orders for nibs like the IB (italic broad).

Already ordered mine. It will make a nice big brother for my orange M320.

Very pretty. I'm not sure if I will order it. I wish the orange were a bit darker, like Delta's orange; I'm not a huge fan of orange on the yellow side.

I'm definitely a fan of this one. Been waiting for a while for the announcement. Pre-order went in this morning but I would like to see some real world pictures. I'll reserve judgement till then. For what it's worth, I see some people wanting the piston knob to be the same color but I personally like the contrast. Same feeling I had with the M800 Grand Place.

The nibs are kind of like blanks - I've noticed that FPNers have them ground to their specifications

Ordered mine yesterday from the Nibsmith w/ EF nib. M600 is my favorite size, and I have the Vibrant Green to keep it company.

The GT enhances the orange, would look lovely in a M1000. ;)

That was a shame but I am hopeful for their return... :(

It was a USP for the brand and they should have continued, perhaps for a small premium.

Sadly, my preferred nib grades are OB, OBB, BB, and BBB, hard to get any of those from a regular B nib.

You forgot OBBB.

The 3B and O3B are very juicy and borderline 'marker' category, IMO. A great way to get rid of ink or thoroughly enjoy it.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
