New Bulkfiller Ks Prototype

Hi all !

Below two pictures of a Kingsize FT Bulkfiller prototype I’ve just finished today
This "Computer Matrix Acrylic Pen Blank “ was bought from “Bear tooth Woods” in the US.
Note the 2 gold plated rings on both sides of the cap ring were not foreseen originally, but I made the ring groove in the cap too wide, and since I only had material for one pen I’ve installed these rings to solve the problem.
Although I like the material, the end result seems somewhat too busy to me……
What do you think ?
Best regards,
Francis

Aside from the gold rings, I like it quite a bit. I don't like those rings, though.

I absolutely love it as it stands. It is a busy pattern, but I think the gold actually ties things together by drawing just enough attention away from the pattern of the body.

I think it's very pretty! I would love a red version just because I have a weakness for chessboard-looking designs, but I think the green is stunning as is. :)

It seems like the gold rings match some of the colors in the pattern so I think the born looks good (but Im not a design expert, or even a design novice).

I really like it posted; I wonder if having the section the same material is what makes it busy? Could that be a plain black?

It's lovely though :)

I disagree with the 'too busy' comments. I love it - particularly the two gold rings which I think give the pen more 'distinction'. And no, don't change the section!

Very nice. Not busy. The pattern is deco - a design statement that may be accidental. I think I would like a gold nib on this one.

I'm usually not a fan of busy patterns on pens and generally choose demonstrators, but I think this is lovely. It reminds me of some vintage pens I've seen but also manages to look modern at the same time, and I especially love that the section matches the body. The rings look rather nice too, since they highlight the yellow in the pattern. A pen I'd love to own, to be honest!

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
