I found a Lamy Studio selling for rather cheap: https://www.ebay.com/itm/LAMY-BRAND-NEW-STUDIO-067-BLUE-FP-F-NIB/382562424687?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20160908105057%26meid%3Da77f21f080574b5ba3949fc29db36f37%26pid%3D100675%26rk%3D2%26rkt%3D15%26sd%3D183440618342%26itm%3D382562424687&_trksid=p2481888.c100675.m4236&_trkparms=pageci%3A52855f95-bf3e-11e8-864a-74dbd180c78d%7Cparentrq%3A06ddfa141660aadca487c534fffb3030%7Ciid%3A1

Is this a fake pen?

My suspicion is largely because of the price.

I don't know whether one can trust random ebay sellers anyway. For those who buy from ebay, how do you ensure you don't get ripped off? Or is it always just a crapshoot?

Doesn't look, fake, the price seems par for the course for Studios. Make sure you're ok with that shiny slippery grip... I am.

Inexpensive and or cheap doesn't necessarily mean fake. Educate yourself on the product you want to acquire.... Fountain pens, Motorcycles, Cars, Books, Art, et al...........

Then consider a purchase........

Pen is real at a good price point............

Wow!

I didn't know Lamy Studios were so inexpensive!

These things easily sell for 2x to 2.5x this price (shipping included, otherwise 3x)!

Thanks everyone!

Are you referring to Indian pricing?

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
