Hello everyone!

 

I caught the fountain pen bug a few months ago while I was researching notebooks after filling a trusty hardback pukka I'd had for 8 years. I'm now ankle deep (if you stack them) in leuchtturms, rhodias, and 2 homemade leather bound traveller's notebooks. Started off with an extra fine platinum preppy which I loved, another in fine which I kinda hate as the nib has a lot of issues then bought a TWSBI Eco in white filled with Robert Osker Fire and Ice, this has been my go to pen for the last couple of months. I'm away from home working just now but I have a EF Brass Wave Kaweco Lilliput and a medium Lamy 2000 waiting for me at home.

 

I've stumbled upon this forum a few times while googling stuff and figured it was time to join in.

      I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

      Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

      Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy.       I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature.
