Travel Ready Storage

From_His_Rib

Recommended Posts

I have stationery, pens and other accessories that I use specifically for snail mail. I also like to write in different places (library, coffee shop, car, etc.).

Does anyone have a good storage solution for carrying my stuff around? Something that is travel ready? My paper tends to get crinkled in my current bag and stuff is not easily accessible. Also I cracked my clipboard carrying it in that same bag. So maybe something that had a hard side???

I use something similar to this I got at Office Depot

https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/808161/Smead-Inndura-UltraColor-Expanding-Wallet-Letter/

Seems like I paid under $10 but it could have been slightly more. I keep a 100 pack of Tomoe River (A4), 1-2 top bound Rhodia A4, envelopes, letters I have in queue to answer, letters I am working and more. It slips right into my backpack I use for my laptop, but I have on occasion just carried it alone.

I've quite fallen for this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B073W8H8GS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It's A4 sized, so perfect for TR paper. Lots of pockets -- zippered and not -- and areas for storage, and it zips around so everything stays safe and secure. Unfortunately, nothing specifically for a pen, though.

My fingers are always inky and I'm always looking for something new.  Interested in trading?  Contact me!

I use a Solo Pro Sling bag. It is semi rigid, padded and has plenty of space in it, but it is not too big. I bought it at Marshals in the men's section. Officially it is to be used for a tablet, hence the padding. I keep my pens in it in a pen case.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
