Please Help Me Identify These Pens

I have two pens which I am trying to determine value of. A friend of mine passed away recently and she was a very well known attorney for 65 yrs. She used both of these pens daily, and her husband would like to sell them. Problem is, I have no idea what they are worth or what their models are. They are both Mont Blanc. The black one has No. 149 inscribed around the cap and the gold one has No. 146 inscribed. Please give me more details!!! Thank Youpost-145273-0-70364200-1536607629_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-72704300-1536607640_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-95881200-1536607661_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-93339500-1536607671_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-79814800-1536607682_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-96550700-1536607971_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-76317000-1536607980_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-59450400-1536607992_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-69222900-1536608003_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-83739900-1536608014_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-70927000-1536608027_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-66108900-1536608037_thumb.jpgpost-145273-0-23523100-1536608055_thumb.jpg

They are valuable. Your best bet is to look at similar items on e-bay. If you list the items there, they should fetch quite a lot.

PS - new retail, both pens are in the $1000. category

The models are just as you stated, a model #149 and a model #146 (barley vermeil).

They are both very desirable pens and are certainly marketable. They appear to have sat unused for a period of time with ink in them. If the ink has dried inside it might mean a pricey fix. Do they still write? If no, can you draw water into them by turning the filler knobs (don't force it)? Functioning examples will command better sale prices so if you can clean them up and prove they can be used as is you will get more for them.

When I try to look up the gold one by the number, I do not bring up any gold ones on eBay and other sales pages. Is there any other identifiable model number or particular thing I should be looking at??

Try searching on ebay for: Montblanc Meisterstuck 146 LeGrand Barley Fountain Vermeil Fountain Pen

Look in the sold listings for price info. I saw several comparators.

They're (bleep). Not worth the trouble.

If you like, I can take them off your hands and save you the bother of fixing them. Please let me know.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
