Have you ever seen a Sailor Realo Profit/ProGear made exclusively for a shop?

If yes, for how much was it sold?

Thank you VERY much.

I was afraid that Sailor doesn't let shops design and sell own Realos.

Actually I think the only Sailor models I haven't seen as a shop exclusive must be the HighAce Neo and the Chalana. ^^

Sailor has a very active tradition of lending its model designs for shop exclusives apparently. It's partly a Japanese market thing, but Sailor is remarkably zealous in this tradition.

There was one version of the Chalana that was a shop exclusive for a Saudi Arabian retailer, can't recall if it was branded Sailor or not. I'm pretty sure it was Andy's pens that sold them so he might have more info.

All brands can be contracted to make SEs/ LEs for whomever, but with Sailor I feel like it's an exceptional case.

I have always wondered how there can be this many LEs & SEs from Sailor, but rarely from Pilot & Platinum. Bungbox's 1st LE pen if I'm not mistaken was a Pilot Custom Heritage 91 "Sapphire", a gorgeous pen, but after that all pens were Sailors (and I wonder and wish I could find out the reason for the change, maybe it's easy to find out if you speak Japanese).

I also think that Sailor is very smart with this strategy (if it is an active strategy..) because all these drool-worthy pens they keep churning out at record speed certainly keep me and I suspect many many others totally hooked!!

When I go to the Bungbox site, there is the yellow 90th anniversary Metro Ginza line pen that I bought last night. Can anyone go to the site and post or message me the sale price of this pen in US dollars. I paid a lot of money for this Sailor Realo pen because I could not get it anywhere but on eBay. I would just like to know its retail price for future reference. Also I would like to know how many sets they made if possible.

For future reference for you, you can google different currencies. Type in google "54000 yen to usd" and press Enter. First item in google search is the reply: 486,46 USD as of today.

This is no Realo.

You can see the converter - and in the text it is mentioned that it has a converter.

I endeavour to be frank and truthful in what I write, show or otherwise present, when I relate my first-hand experiences that are not independently verifiable; and link to third-party content where I can, when I make a claim or refute a statement of fact in a thread. If there is something you can verify for yourself, I entreat you to do so, and judge for yourself what is right, correct, and valid. I may be wrong, and my position or say-so is no more authoritative and carries no more weight than anyone else's here.

In 2014 I bought one of the Side River Realo Pro Gear demonstrators, with navy blue trim and Naginata Togi nib. It was under US$300 back then. Would be a lot more now I think.

@migo984, with a Naginata Togi nib? That's pretty cool. I don't imagine that would be easy to come by, or for individual Japanese stationery stores/chains to arrange, these days.

I was lucky. To be honest I didnt really know a lot about what nib I was buying. It was just one of the various options offered, and didnt cost much more than the standard nibs available on the pen.

As you can just about see in this photo its an N-MF.

I have the Sailor Naginata and some fancy blade nibs coming after 2022 by a number of new workshop from China.  With all my respect, IMHO, they are all (bleep) in doing chinese characters.  Go use a bush, or at least a bush pen.

It is the reason why I'm so keen on the idea of a personal library — of pens, nibs, inks, paper products, etc. — and spent so much money, as well as time and effort, to “build” it for myself (because I can't simply remember everything, especially as I'm getting older fast) and my wife, so that we can “know”; and, instead of just disposing of what displeased us, or even just not good enough to be “given the time of day” against competition from >500 other pens and >500 other inks for our at

Agreed.  And I think it’s good to be aware of this early on and think about at the point of buying rather than rationalizing a purchase..

Alas, one cannot know “good” without some idea of “bad” against which to contrast; and, as one of my former bosses (back when I was in my twenties) used to say, “on the scale of good to bad…”, it's a spectrum, not a dichotomy. Whereas subjectively acceptable (or tolerable) and unacceptable may well be a dichotomy to someone, and finding whether the threshold or cusp between them lies takes experiencing many degrees of less-than-ideal, especially if the decision is somehow influenced by factors o

I got my first real fountain pen on my 60th birthday and many hundreds of pens later I’ve often thought of what I should’ve known in the beginning. I have many pens, the majority of which have some objectionable feature. If they are too delicate, or can’t be posted, or they are too precious to face losing , still they are users, but only in very limited environments..  I have a big disliking for pens that have the cap jump into the air and fly off. I object to Pens that dry out, or leave blobs o
